Summary of Position Responsibilities:
This position belongs to Japan Enterprise System Delivery Group, where is in charge of dealing with complex cross functional or enterprise wide projects/ program.
This is a highly-skilled leadership role and he/she acts like the brain and look after a lot of planning, instructs the other parts of the body (team members) to perform certain functions, so as to attain certain goals.
He/she also be tasked with handling financial responsibilities, which could necessitate them negotiating with vendors and partners to ensure budgetary limits are not pushed. Additionally, Senior Project Manager may have to pull together team to accomplish very specific projects.
Report line is senior manager of Enterprise System Delivery Group.
Key areas to be accountable:
*Oversee various highly complex programs & projects and coordinates the management of multiple related projects.
*Provides oversight and works with the project managers in the program to monitor cost, schedule, and technical performance of projects, while working to ensure the ultimate success of the program.
*Coordinating and managing projects resources and activities as well as communicating status with all stakeholders, sponsors, and customers
*Applying advanced project management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project deliverables, processes, and systems in order to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations.
*Having good software development methodology understanding and make sure deliverable, process and each phase gate on each methodology.(c.f. Agile, water flow, pilot, etc)
Dimensions of Position:
Launch and plan projects and its resources
-Develop full-scale project plan including schedule, budget plan, and resource plan as baseline plan facilitating the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
-Manages and work with business users to define a project scope and approach, and ensure that a project approach supports the business strategic objectives.
-Assemble and coordinate project staff identifying resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
Until completion of transition to Application operation group AMS (Incl: Transition planning and execution)
-Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements, and update the senior executives on revised plans
-Drive projects including monitoring project timelines, technical performance, change control, and financial expenditures from a program perspective to contribute the strategic goals of business.
-Control scope/schedule changes, and ensure the quality control is in place to meet the quality standard throughout the execution phase
-Prepares for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures. Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors presenting reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
-Develop and maintain cordial relationships with stakeholders to manage their expectations via meetings and reporting on predefined frequencies by engaging customer relationship manager(s)
-Escalate issues to senior leadership as needed with action plans / catch up plans.
-Lead optimization of new business process or methodology from replacing old legacy way by educating and involving people. And make sure knowledge transfer plan and execution.
-After the project is completed, the project manager should conduct a meeting with the team to check the project and discuss the results. Here, the project manager should find the key factors that led to the completion of the project and those that were not beneficial for the project, so that they can be avoided in the future.
*Possesses good leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills to lead cross-functional teams and coach/advise peers and staff
*Successfully delivered long term project whose cost is around 1B yen simultaneously
*Successfully delivered more than 1 complex project of business process engineering project.
*Management experience of a project team including stakeholders size 30-50 members.
*Strong planning and organization skills with the ability to adapt to changes
*Proficient in project management tools, templates and project life cycle
*Excellent communication, facilitation, and analytical skills, inclusive of written, verbal and listening, in both Japanese and English
*Customer Service Orientation and strong teamwork
*Presentation skill for executives using flame work/logical thinking like a consultant in both Japanese and English
*5-8 years experiences in Information Technologies
*5-8 years project and program management experience
*Undergraduate, preferably graduate degree
*Consulting company experience
*PMP Certified preferred
*Experience of working at an insurance company
*Experience or good understanding about project of implementation of new IT technology (e.g. SFDC, ETL, ESB, MDM, Big Data Rule engine of insurance)
