General Description
The Safety Engineer supports Product Development teams to execute functional safety activities
and comply with ISO 26262 Functional Safety Automotive standard. The Safety Engineer is part of
the Quality – Functional Safety and Reliability team and addresses product development tasks.
Interested newcomers to the functional safety domain are welcome and coaching and training will
be ensured.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities (Detailed information of the position’s R&R)
 Support functional safety activities during the project lifecycle (concept phase, development
phase, production phase and supporting process)
 Define safety plan and technical safety requirements and concept with system team
 Support system, hardware and software safety requirements and architecture analysis and
definition with system, hardware and software teams
 Support functional safety work product reviews, confirmation reviews and confirmation
 Coordinate and negotiate with JOEM customers and Visteon internal departments globally
 Utilize quality control tools (FMEA, FTA) and ensure development quality and reliability
 Perform functional safety audit/assessment for work products of mass production projects
Required Skills and Experience
 8+ year experience of software and/or electronics development of embedded system
(Requirements analysis and definition, architecture design, detailed design, implementation,
Including 3+ year experience of C programming language experience out of the above 8 yers.
 Basic knowledge and experience of product safety design (Failsafe, fault tolerant and fault
avoidance technic for system, hardware or software, and product development process)
 Teamwork ability and communication skill with global teams in Japanese and English
 Problem-solving ability with logical thinking
 Fluent Japanese and Business level of English
Preferred Skills and Experience
 ISO 26262 and/or IEC 61508 standard
 AUTOSAR specifications
 Automotive SPICE and/or PMBOK
 Electrical Control Unit (ECU) software or electronics development in automotive industry
 ECU mass production launch in automotive industry
 Project supporting tools (Requirements management, configuration management/ version
control, issue/task tracking
