Backend Engineer - Digital Ecosystem Services Section

Description

Responsibilities:

Creation and improvement of backend services for mobile apps and website
Design and expose APIs to client teams
Work with operations team to optimize performance and maintain security
Work with product and business teams to review, estimate, and prioritize features
Collaborate with client team developers, QA, and operations teams to ensure quality delivery
Coordinate with remote teams on technical implementations
Investigate and fix defects
Maintain good code quality and consistency
Review and refactor workflows to make whole development team more efficient
Introduce new tools, practices, and automation

Qualifications:

At least 5 years' experience in backend services development in C# or .Net Framework
High proficiency in MySQL or another SQL-based database system
Experience with key-value and document storage database engines (e.g. Memcached and Couchbase)
Experience with Web API creation, organisation, and consumption
Working knowledge of at least one public cloud service (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP)
Experience working in a software development team environment
Usage of modern version control systems
Native language proficiency in Japanese OR English

Desirable Experience / Skills:

Programmatic video processing
Optimization of large data transfer and storage over network
Working knowledge CDNs and load balancers
Working with remote teams
Business level proficiency in English or Japanese (in addition to native language proficiency above)
